Housing Project of Lions Club of Mirigama Metro

The lions club of Mirigama Metro successfully completed another housing project on the 28^th January 2012 with the pioneering contribution from Lion Upali Perera of the club.The beneficiary was Mr.B.Sarath of Kandalama, Mrigama who is the father of a family with two kids.

The house which is worth about Rs. 400,000/= was completed in three months with support from members of Lions Club of Mirigama Metro. It has 2 bed rooms, living room, kitchen and a verandah. The new house is also supplied with electricity.

The handing over ceremony was held on the 28^th of January 2012 and was presided by the Governor of District 306B, Lion Jayantha Guanawardana MJF.

Supporting Women Inmates with children at the Welikada Prison

Lion Lalith Shantha Kodisingha donated gifts worth about Rs.50,000 to the inmates with children at the Welikada prison.
This event was attended by former secretary to the prime minister Mr. Sam Wijesinghe & Mrs. Eeriagolla, widow of late Minister Eeriagolla.

Lions club of Mirigama Metro gave a new look to the post office of Pallewela by completely painting the building, walls & mail posts.

Region Chairperson’s Visit

Lion Indika Kudahetty, Region Chairperson of Region 8 visited the Lions Club of Mirigama Metro during the monthly meeting held on the 17^th of September 2011 at Hotel Thushini, Kandalama, Mirigama.

Addressing the Lions, the Region chairperson discussed the projects that are planned to be conducted at regional level involving all the clubs in the region. He also discussed the importance of lionism which was quite useful to the guests from Kotadeniyawa who are planning to charter a Lions Club.

During the visit the Region chairperson took part in a tree planting project organized by the Lions club of Mirigama Metro.

The meeting was hosted by Lion Amal Gunawardana.

Zone Chairperson’s Visit

Lion Saman Weerasooriya, Zone Chairperson, Zone1 of Region 8 visited the Lions Club of Mirigama Metro during the monthly meeting held on the 20^th of August 2011 at Hotel Rehans, Kandalama, Mirigama.

Addressing the Lions, the Zone chairperson gave valuable advises and described how the club can support to implement the international & the District Governor’s programs.

During the visit the Zone chairperson took part in a charitable program organized by the lions club of Mirigama Metro to help a poor teenage girl who was suffering from a heart problem which requires an urgent heart surgery. Lions of the Lions Club of Mirigama Metro donated more than Rs.30,000/= for this project.
